Scattershooting . . .

February 12th, 2006 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Ny_snow_edit_21206_1Scattershooting while wondering whatever
happened to bean cones. . . . Huge snow day in Northeast today, with over two feet falling in
New York City. Was in the Big Apple for their last blizzard.
Biggest challenges: (1) getting a cab, and (2) getting from cab to the sidewalk
— lots of plowed snow in one’s way. Other than that, blizzards get more
attention in the news than anywhere but the hearts of school kids. . . . Most of
us have had our fill of politicians, and this won’t help cure the feeling.
Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi
has now proclaimed himself "the Jesus Christ of politics." . . .
Of course, most of Europe probably doesn’t have any idea who he is referring
to, if Haroon Moghul, blogging from
Islamabad, Pakistan is right: “Europe’s obsession with reprinting these offensive, derogatory
cartoons is Europe’s
discomfort with religion.
Having killed off their God, Europeans now have one last god, and that is that
there is no god. Only this must be held sacred: There is no sacred. What a sad predicament
the Muslim world sees its former masters in.” The man Mavs_logo_100_dpimakes a telling point. .
. . Well, the Dallas Mavericks
NBA-season-high win streak stops at 13 as Denver, big losers of late, uses
altitude and attitude to shoot down the high-flying Mavs. As Dallas Morning News notes, Mavs hadn’t
lost in 29 days, yet still couldn’t get first place away from San Antonio Spurs. Come playoff time
their chances of doing just that seem even thinner. . . . New pastor, Rev. Luke Biggs, installed today at
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He appears to be a good, solid, spiritual man.
Hope I can say the same a year from now. . . . Grandson Landon, shown here withJordan_laughing_landon granddaughter Jordan, is the latest in the family to get the winter bug. . . .
Meanwhile, Pa (that would be me) is
feeling more and more like he’s skipped his 60s, 70s, and 80s and gone straight
to his 90s. Maladies persist as I try to overcome chemo. Now it’s even hard to
get up and walk. . . . Then there was the elevator operator who got fired
because he couldn’t remember the route.
