Marksweeney
It’s been too long since I’ve updated anything in the blog, so here goes. . . . Mark Sweeney, one of the finest men I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing, had unexpected bypass surgery two weeks ago. He is home and recovering, but has some additional testing ahead. I know he and Janet appreciate our prayers. . . . Had a wonderful dinner in Dallas with old friend and colleague Alan Terwilleger. He and wife, Carroll, are living in Virginia where he has a key leadership role with Prison Fellowship. They are dear friends and it’s exciting to see them doing so well while doing so much good. . . . Had great news this past weekend: daughter Jennie was accepted in the doctoral program at USC! She will begin her studiesSc
toward a doctorate in education this fall. Means she will be moving to Southern California for the foreseeable future. She is very excited, as she should be; her goal is to teach on the college level. . . . Mom continues to adjust to Dad‘s passing, and is doing well considering all the changes. . . . I’m now in physical therapy to try and get strength back in my legs, as joints, knees particularly, continue in a lot of pain. Overall I’ve felt well below par of late; the hoped-for return to normalcy has not happened as quickly as I expected. . . . Now have a dozen guys in our Monday Morning Men’s Community. Dr. Tim Keller continues to provide the recorded challenges, and we are integrating the new guys into the group. . . . Just launched a new series of daily E-votionals for Joel Osteen along with a weekly E-video. Worth subscribing to! . . . Who said, “The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the Word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and the next. Continue, therefore, to read it and to regulate your life by its precepts.” John_jay_crop
None other than John Jay, first chief justice of the United States Supreme Court. He might be impeached for going public with those sentiments today. Sad.
